Making Our Reading Enjoyable (M.O.R.E.)
Making our Reading Enjoyable (M.O.R.E.) is designed to introduce children aged 3-5 to books. M.O.R.E. serves only licensed daycare centers in Hamilton County.
Child daycare centers served by the M.O.R.E. unit must be licensed, approved, and registered agencies by the Tennessee Department of Human Services and/or the Tennessee Department of Education.
M.O.R.E. service will be provided only to centers that serve twenty or more children aged 3-5 with the exception of centers primarily serving children with disabilities and/or centers serving children who are abused.
To receive M.O.R.E. service, centers must complete an application provided by the library annually before June 30.
The number of M.O.R.E. centers is determined by the resources of the library.
Head Start programs and pre-school programs operated in conjunction with a public school program are ineligible for M.O.R.E. service.
M.O.R.E. centers will be considered on a case by case basis. Priority will be given to:
- Centers operated by local, state, or federal governments.
- Centers receiving at least 50% of funding from local, state, or federal governments.
- Centers providing service to children who are from economically disadvantaged households.
Library staff will determine the schedule for M.O.R.E. visits and materials delivery.
Daycare center directors are responsible for renewing materials, paying fines on overdue materials, and paying fees for lost and damaged materials. Fees and fines are set in accordance with library policy.
M.O.R.E. service is subject to suspension if any or all of these situations occur:
- Materials are delinquent for an extended period.
- The center does not meet the criteria for service.
- M.O.R.E. staff members are harassed or endangered.
The library reserves the right to suspend or discontinue M.O.R.E. service without cause.
